 Topic: Column Bars Specifications Reqd

We are constructing a G+4 Building with 16nos of 9X9 columns with 4 bars of 16mm and 2 bars of 12mm and stirrups of 8mm.

Is it enough or shall i replaces the 12mm bars with 16mm one.

construction going on 1st floor.

         For 5 story building, in my view take structure design. The size and numbers of columns,  MS Steel bars are calculated with the structural drawing according to loading condition, safe bearing capacity of soil and effect of earth quack etc. As you say 16 nos column for what area and at what distance and for what load these column to bear. The size and MS steel given is on inadequate or on lesser side.

Sir, it is a 900 Sqft area with 28X32 ft size.

the max span of the column is 11 ft whereas min in 6ft.

A total of 16 columns are there interconnected each other via Tie Beam.

Foundation depth was 6ft.

your expert views are awaited.

         As I already stated that take proper structural design. You are spending Rs 70-80 lac for construction of 5 story building it is better to spend some thousand on design for structure safety and design can save construction cost as without design one use more quantity in fear. No one can take responsibility without design for giving expert view. Expert view can be given on proper design not on hit and trial method. See some links for construction
