Earthquake Design - Plinth Band and Lintel Band

 Topic: Earthquake Design - Plinth Band and Lintel Band
Now a day it is commonly necessary in some parts of  India to design a house that is Earthquake resistant. The two RINGS that most house must have are referred to as PLINTH BAND and LINTEL BAND. Basically they are concrete band with iron rods inside it. It is essential Plinth band and Lintel band are included in paper when you sign with a contractor and architect must also be notified. I have attached to PDF file to illustrate basic understanding of these two bands. You will need Acrobat reader to open the files.

That is a great piece of information Kiten,  These are the things that no one really knows when they get to construct the building and the contractor never tells the house owner as it would require them to do additional work.  Thanks a lot for posting.
