Topic: House Design And Material Used

I am planning to build a G+1 residential House with the attached floor plan. The Plot is a Agricultural land and hence it gets filled with water during monsoon season.
The contractor has give the below list of materials to be used for foundation.
5 ft deep trenches for columns.
for column:
1 layer of stones with rcc mix over it.
2x2 feet net of 8 mm steel.
9x18 column using 6 rods of 12mm steel and 8 mm steel for rings.
rcc mixture of 15 ghamelas of black sand and 10 ghamelas of crushed rock for 1 bag of cement.
for beams:
2 12 mm rods, 2 10 mm rods of steel and 8 mm steel for rings.
rcc mixture of 15 ghamelas of black sand and 10 ghamelas of crushed rock for 1 bag of cement.

please tell me if the material and design is proper.
and changes and suggestiosnare welcome.

The column footing should be wide at least 3'6" x 3'6". 2.size of col. 9" x 12" 3. As you say it is a Agricultural land, height of plinth is very important,decide it .. 4. Take help of local Architect /Engineer for Technical supervision of construction work. ..Regards

richlyn Join date: Aug 2014	Thanks Navneet!! Differrent people suggest to use differrent materials. Concern is about the Steel and cement. Oner contractor quoted use of normal Steel and ultratech cement, while others suggest tata steel etc etc. Could some one please help me with the difference and what could suffice my need here.
