Wood being an organic material and insulator retains an ambient surface temperature and does not allow heat or cold to rise through.Thus it is gud for both hot and cold climate.But keep following things in mind before installing wood flooring:

1. To avoid high maintainence look out for pre polished wood ,surface treated with clear polyurethane and with a melamine finish.
2. Do not go for thin (6 mm to 8mm) and small (16 inches to 18 inches )wood pieces as they tend to warp and bend easily.Instead look for 12mm to 15mm thick and 48 inches long pieces of preseasoned ,prepolished ,treated planks of wood with interlocking details for ease of fixing and repair.
