Topic: Protecting concrete brick boundary wall without plastering in rainy season?

I'm from south india where almost all boundary walls are constructed using 4" thick concrete bricks and plaster both sides to protect the bricks from heavy raining season. Since plastering the whole boundary wall is a costly affair, I am looking for alternate cost effective methods to protect the concrete bricks from rains. Someone told me that brushing a thick white cement coat on both sides is enough and save the cost of plastering. Is it ok, and any other methods also?

Dear Vinu,
White cement is costly, use grey cement with lime and for beauty do white washing after curing and drying the wall.
