 Topic: RCC Column

Rcc Column construction (250x300 with 6-12dia. rod) for 2storied residentiial building (around 85sq.ft.) was done as advised by one of my friend.

Now I am worried that weather it is safe or not? if not please suggest the remedy. only ground floor superstructure has been construted. I will start construction of 1st floor by mid december. any safety measure needs to be taken during construction of 1st floor.

Please advise.

           The provision of MS Steel rod nos and dia for making RCC columns are depend upon the load coming on the column, span of the column. From your question it is not clear what length of span is. In my view you should contact any civil engineer or structural engineer who can give you suggestion after visiting your home.

we are putting rcc columns for our building. Here, we get ground water at 5.5 ft. But, structural engineer wants the trench depth to be 8 ft.

So, what precautions should we take and how should we remove so much water. What is the procedure for this. Please explain.

      Please contact your structural engineer from whom you have taken design of columns, who will give you the remedy  acccording to his design.
