RCC Columns- Ditrection

 Topic: RCC Columns- Ditrection
Need help in deciding about the direction of rectangular column.Is it essential, technically, to place the lenth in the direction of the span of room or it doesn't matter?

Dear Jairaj

        It is not hard and fast rule that the length be placed in the direction of the span. If  it is done it will reduce the length of the span but some time due to thickness of wall or other architectural feature we have to adjust the size of column accordingly.
