Topic: Steel rod size For column and Tie beam structure

Dear Mr. Gupta

I am planning to construct my house G+2 on 1200sqft plot.Architact Suggested pillar size of 9x 9 inches and 15 Nos of pillars. Please suggest me steel rod size and nos.for pillars.

Please Also suggest no of steel rods and size(Dia) for Tie beam.

        The MS Steel rod/ bars are calculated on the basis of load taken by the pillar/ column and span between the column etc. Your architect provides 15 nos columns in your plan. Use 4 nos 16 mm dia bars with 8mm dia rings or ties 6'' center to center.For more detail and knowledge visit gharexpert.com website construction section in which in concrete sub section you will find lot about column and concrete. Thanks for your Prompt Response and i have also gone through both Articles very infomative.

Please also suggest

1. What should be minimum distance between two plillar? 

In my case architact has given distance 13feet 8 inch and size of pillar is 9X9 SQINCH

2.What should be MS rod size for these pillar.

Dear Jitendra

         The distance between the pillars are according to site conditions. There are no any rule for minimum distance.

Use at least 6 nos 16 mm bars in the coolmns.

Dear Mr. Gupta,
 i have planing to build a house and the total area is 512
sqft could you please let me know how much steel do i need to buy for the roof. and i will put 4 columns in there these will be 9x9, thank you.

     For roof 500 to 600 kg MS Steel is required.
