Topic: Is my question is tough?

Sir,

Previously I had asked a question as follows:

"My contractor didnot use vibrator
for filling concrete inside column  (pillar)
Is it a big problem? "

But no body answered to my question. Pls answer to my question. I am very much worried.. Is my question is tough ?

Dear Naik
Your question is so simple that the strength of column filled without vibrator is less than the column with vibrator. But do not worry if the column is filled with proper concrete mix and ramming by steel rod or bamboo.

Post subject: Check for HoneyCombs

Dear Mr. Naik,

Vibration is done usually to place concrete properly (i.e., fill the form) and remove air bubbles. This helps concrete to fill nooks and corners and eliminate voids.

One Question. Were you inspecting the site when this happened?. Then did you check if you contractor has used any other technique to place the concrete properly (like by ramming it with Steel rod). If so, then you don't have an issue.

The best way to check whether concrete has been placed properly is to check for Honeycombs immediately after the removal of shuttering. Honeycombs are a result of Improper Vibration or Improper Design mix (i.e., If stiff concrete is used).

So, I would suggest you to check for Honeycombs when the shuttering is removed. Be careful, the contractor might cover up these Honeycombs with improper techniques if you dont inspect during the time of removal of shuttering.
