Sir,
I live in rohtak. Most of the people faced leakage problem because of rust with GI pipes like Jindal & Tata. Same problem i also faced in my present house. In most of buildings, GI pipes crossed through RCC from one side to another.
Most of the Architect recommends Kitec Pipes here to avoid rust & leakage. Is it better than GI or best alternate for longterm than GI? No body knows about the disadvantage of Kitec MLC pipe with Brass Connections.
Which one is suitable among them for underground/wall fittings or open installation (from shaft etc.(Half underground/Half open)). Please suggest solution to prevent GI pipe from rust. As you suggest in last post, GI is better which one is best among TATA C/Jindal C?
Please clear our doubt and help everyone. Thanks for your valuable suggestions.

Join date: Mar 2008 | Dear Bansal UPVC pipes are being increasingly used
now days because of a number of advantages such as light in weight yet
strong, easy to transport, good flow, corrosion resistant, unaffected by
fungi or bacteria and resistant to wide range of chemicals etc.
G.I.
pipe hold good in lying in open i.e. on the surface of wall or floor
where as UPVC pipes need special care at the time of laying the pipe
line to save it from breakage and not hold good in open. UPVC pipes are
good for water temperature ranging from 1 to 45 degree centigrade, at
higher temperature; the strength of pipes reduces where as G.I. pipes
hold well on all temperature. For embedding pipe in floor or walls, it should be painted with anti corrosive bitumastic paints of approved make.Care should be taken that pipe should not come in contact lime mortar or lime concrete as the pipe is affected by lime.

hi everyonewill like to share my experience with you all. Pex/Al/PEx pipes are the best when it comes to plumbing.be sure that you use compression brass fittings with them . GI pipes are no longer used in the wetern countries because of the various problems faced with them like leakges.corrosion etc. PPR and Cpvc are gradually fading out since the quality issues and bonding of the joints has become a major issues, apart from that algae formation is there since its a single layer pipe that is why i would recommend PEX/AL/PEX pipes 1. look for a food grade certification - only Astral and Sant rifeng have them 2. go for PEX/AL/PEX and not PEX/AL/PE or PERT pipes worldwide only pex is used 3. go for DZR brass fittings only 4. Go for a company which is certified by NSF , no point going in for ISI since ISI has taken its standard from ASTM i would rate three companies as the best ones in India - Sant- Rifeng(Rifeng is the biggest player world wide ) 2. Upanor - again a very good company 3. Vega kindly dont try the local ones kitec/jindal/vectus etc since they are using very cheap material whose quality is not good . A faulty plumbing and play havoc with your house
