Dear Rao

You have not given full information i.e. what is the length and width of  cantilever, why you want to construct 9'' thick wall and what is the height of the wall and wll having any window etc.

In general the cantilever is 3' or 4' from wall or beam and 4.5'' thick wall is to be constructed on the cantilever portion. Keep the height minimum as possible and provide window/ ventilator to reduce the load.

If you are not satisfied than send detail quarry, Iwill try to answer your quarry.

Thanks for quick response.

Length of the Cantilever is 17 feet and 2 feet width. As this wall is an external wall, planning to go for 9"  and the height of the wall is 10 feet and planning to keep 5 *6 French Window.

Please note that in  the actual plan it is showing two 2 * 4 windows ( Qty- 2). But am planning to go for 5*6 Window.

Please find attached plan for the same.

Regards,

S.Ravuri.

Dear Rao

After seeing the details sent by you I am in the view that you should go ahead for constructing the 9'' wall. But care should be taken that when you lay roof or slab of this area than load should be given on the stair side wall and on the wall which is parrallel to stair wall.

Thanks for prompt response.

Since we are doing RCC based construction, only columns & beams are constructed before laying the roof slab. Walls will be constructed later. My understanding is, the load of the slab goes to beams first and then to columns and finally to foundation. Let me know in this scenario, if we need to worry about the following point,

load should be given on the stair side wall and on the wall which is parrallel to stair wall.”

Dear Rao

About load my point is that do not make the wall of cantilever as load bearing. Load should be given in the other direction on the wall or beam as the case may be.

Continuing my earlier msg here is what i had done to support my FF 9" wall over the same cantilever slab projecting 2.5" from a 15" SSM load bearing wall.

1. Provided 3 cantilever 9" x 9" beams over the slab to support the tip Simply supported beam to take up the load of 9" wall of FF.
2. have provided 2 windows of 3' x 4' so as to avoid direct loads.

As my structure is a load bearing one. Am i correct what i have done in transfering the loads using beam systems.
Please let me know what i have done is it correct and can i move on with my constructions or avoid 9" wall over that cantilever slab.
For further references am attaching the New Reference plan please have a look at this new plan.
Please reply at  the earliest sir..

I want to make a 9'' brick wall over the Slab  which have no cantilever, My contractor didn't give any cantilever or hidden beam below the slab. It is simply extended slab of 2 feet from the column or main wall. They said that we can give parapet balcony wall but i want to raise 9'' wall on it. Kindly suggest what should i do now. Can we make some arrangement that i can put beam over the slab again & raise the wall on it ?? Please suggest me. I have attached the structure of slab, column & beam.

Dear Sir,
          1.  Construct 4.5'' thick wall and keep window/ ventilator in the wall to reduce the weight.
  2. Take help from any local engineer of your city who can solve the problem after visiting the house site.
              Thanks
