 Topic: Brick Pillar
We have 700sq.ft1bhk house,and the total area is 1000sq.ft with verandah. We are planning to put pillars on four side and build 2storey ,above the 1bhk. Is it possible.any idea. this house is 15years old and too strong,without cracks... Its in pune,kondwa area.. Demolishing completely,is costing alot..

   In my view, conact any civil engineer of your town or city. Who will guide you about the actual requirement of columns and also assess the condition of foundation of old building, if foundation is sound and take load of 2 story building than there is no need to construct column.

I am constructing a new house. The verandah roof is at 9ft and the main house roof is at 11ft height. There are 3 pillars in the corners of the verandah and forgot to place a pillar at the south end of the verandah. Kindly let me know how I can over come this problem? Will the brick walls in the SE and SW side of the verandah take the load of the roof. There will be no construction on the roof of the verandah, it would be an open terrace.
