Using Wood ,metal, glass And Concrete In Bathroom

In general, only woods with high oil content can be used without extensive treatment before hand.
Wood can also change in appearance over time. Antique-style wooden bathroom furnishings are a good decorative choice, but if you don’t want your wood to look aged, be prepared for considerable care and conservation.

Although wood is chiefly used for bathroom cabinets and decorative details, it can be also be used for partitions or exterior paneling for a bath-tub or shower .Parquet floors are an attractive option, provided the right kind of wood is available. Many washstand are also made of wood .Wood should not be used on surfaces that are exposed to running water, and too much wood in small bathroom can be monotonous. Wood is especially attractive when used as a contrasting element in combination with other material .Light- colored wood paneled walls or parquet floors can be beautifully dramatic.

Lighter metals such as aluminum are the most commonly used metal.Aluminum never rusts, making it ideal for moist bathroom environment.Stainless steel also shares this quality. Most other metals will oxidize if exposed to constant humidity, running water, or splashing.

Glass is by far the best choice for physically separating one area from another in bathrooms.

The more significant downside of glass is its cost: it is expensive compared to many other materials with similar quality, including plastics.Moisture does not affect glass and mold does not grow on it, making it very nearly the perfect bathroom material. The most expensive variety is industrial- strength molded Glass, which is manufactured by a process similar to the production of fine crystal. Glass panels can be thin. Due to their breakability, these may not be the best choice for households with small children. New applications include glass sink, which give your bathroom an air of extravagance, but also of lightness and grace.

The use of concrete in interior design increased when  modern architects  began promoting its use as the rational expressions of an industrialized society. The concrete used in  designer interiors is generally a very fine variety.

Concrete gives a bathroom a modern, avant - garde aesthetic that could not be in greater contrast with traditional design. It works best with minimalist or industrial fixtures, or as part of an apartment or house in which the over all design concept rejects excessive decoration and extraneous furnishings. Concrete is simple and straightforward, and makes the greatest impact unadorned. The unique qualities of concrete as well as its indestructibility, suggest that its use in bathrooms will continue to increase
