Bathroom tiles have been used widely since the ancient times and have only changed forms and modified to fit in with the latest trends in designing.
Bathroom Tiles are preferred for their beauty against many of the other man-made materials and the best thing about
bathroom tiles is that they are cost effective.
Bathroom tiles are specifically different from other tiles because of their durability, beauty and son-slip quality.
Usually bathroom tiles fall into two categories:
Chamfered tiles and,
Rectified tiles
Chamfered bathroom tiles have round edges which look good but, they leave more space between the tiles and ultimately more grout is used up. Rectified bathroom tiles have right angled edges, they leave lesser spaces between tiles and lesser grout is used. Rectified bathroom tiles are the most convenient ones and popular too. Apart from the basic categories, bathroom tiles have a large range of materials to choose from.
The most popular material out of which bathroom tiles are made is ceramic. Ceramic bathroom tiles are not only cost effective but also easy to maintain and are the most common choice. These bathroom tiles offer a broad range of sizes, colors, designs and patterns. They usually have matt finish but can also come in glossy finish and ceramic or porcelain back.
Ceramic bath tiles add a clean and sheer contemporary look to the bathroom and are usually used on walls and floors.
These days, ceramic tiles come with an embossed pattern making an artistic pattern to be put up in your bathroom. Although not all ceramic tiles are cost effective and some finely designed ceramic bathroom tiles may be expensive too but, they never leave you regretful.
Granite tiles is also becoming an increasingly popular material for bathroom tiles.
They are favored because of their durability and are considered to be the toughest of all other types of
bathroom tiles. The next advantage granite
bathroom tiles have over the others is that they are almost scratch resistant and are immune to easy breakage.
Designers prefer using granite bathroom tiles mainly because of their durable nature. Their tones are consistent and often dark and warm. Aside of granite, other natural stones such as limestone and sandstone are also used for bathroom tiles because they are elegantly pretty and beautiful. But, they are not so commonly used because these stones are difficult to maintain. Due to their porous structure, these bathroom tiles promote leakage and are also prone to stains making them less durable and inefficient.
Homogenous tiles can be a good choice though. These bathroom tiles have the same front n back faces i.e. the front and back of these tiles are in the same color or tone. Homogenous bathroom tiles are easy to maintain and are scratch resistant to some extent as well.
Stainless steel bathroom tiles are quite infamous now but are uncommon. They come in various shapes but are used mostly as stainless steel mosaic. These bathroom tiles contain a good modern look while being easy to maintain and clean.
