| The following method should be adopted for the protection of dampness in floor: |
| 1. Dry area having low water level: |
| In this case 75 mm thick layer of course sand laid on the bed of rammed earth with 100 mm thick layer of lean concrete (1:3:6 or 1:4:8 mix )is thereafter laid over the base course. The forms the base of the floor topping which may be of any type. |
| 2. Area having high water level: |
| In this case both the walls as well as the ground are liable to get damp due to capillary rise of moisture from ground. |
| In such situation, it is necessary to provide damp proof of flexible material like bitumen felt over the entire area of the ground including wall thickness . |
| This felt is also laid on vertical faces of the wall. |
| The horizontal & vertical surfaces should be finished smooth. This should be protected from the damages. |
