Which are various method for the protection of dampness ? | | | | Untitled Page | | The dampness in the building can be protected taking following precaution :- | | | Horizontal DPC :- All the brick walls should be covered with the horizontal DPC at the floor level. | | | All the outer walls should be covered with vertical DPC from ground to floor level. | | | Where water level is very high bitumen felt should be laid under the floor. | | | At open veranda, balcony and chhaja, care should be taken that no rain water is penetrate through the joints of above structure and the slop of balcony and chhaja should be 1 in 100 to drain of the water effectively . The top surface of the chhaja should be plastered and proper drip course should be maintained. | | | The joints of the parapet with the tile tracing and with rain water pipes and any expansion joints should be finished smooth. | | | The slope of the tile tracing should be such to drain of the rain water quickly. | | | The size and spacing of the rain water pipe should be according to the requirements and their joints should be leak proof. | | | Care should be taken that all the sanitary fittings water supply fittings should be tight and leak proof. | | | The external face of the wall should be cement pointed. | | | | | | | | | | | |
