Advantages and Disadvantages of Metal Door Frames | | | | Door is a solid barrier that is fixed in a door way or opening of a wall with the help of iron lugs or hold fasts in the walls.
Door consists of two parts one is one part is frame of the door and other part is shutter of the door. The classification of door frames according to material is as under.
- Wooden door frame.
- Aluminum door frame.
- Metal door frame or iron door frame which are further categories as pressed steel door frames, standard section window frames, angle iron frames and T-iron frames etc.
With the scarcity & high price of wood and also high price of aluminum, metal or iron door and window frames are used. By using metal door and window frames we are becoming environmentally friend because we save many trees which are required to be cut for making these frames thus we are not contributing to this loss of habitat. There are so many advantages and some disadvantages of installing the metal or iron door and window frames which are as under.

- Metal frames are safe against burglars.
- Metal frames are safe against fire.
- Metal frames are economical in cost.
- Metal frames are light in weight so can fix easily.
- They can be easily handled and transport cost is less.
- They do not have any problem of termite and insects.
- Metal frames are free from rotting problems.
- Metal frames have no tilting or twisting effect.
- Metal frames can be designed in any shape easily with minimum wastage.
- Metal frames take less space in fixing frames, due to this more opening space is available for the shutter in the doors.
- Metal frames have no weather effect such as to absorb the moisture.
- Metal frames have long life.
- Their re-sale value is more.
- By using Metal frames we are Eco-friendly to the nature, as we save the trees to be use in frames.
Disadvantages of Metal Door Frames
- There is rusting problem in metal frames.
- They can not give architectural view.
