Maintenance of a pool is a major requirement that must not be taken lightly. A well maintained pool will prevent bacteria growth and ensure a lively environment for a long time.
Sanitize Swimming PoolSanitization of pool is must for maintenance of swimming pool. Generally, pool users mix chlorine in water on weekly basis to kill bacteria. A chlorine feeder is also available in market; which floats on water. Chlorine feeder contains chlorine tablet that makes sanitization easy.

 | Chlorine loses its effects over a period of time and remaining particles of old chlorine are destroyed using a chemical called shocker. So there is a need to add chlorine into pool water. Be careful in sanitization process and do not add too much chlorine at a time.
Bromine can also be used to sanitize your pool. It is preferred by the people who hate chlorine smell and those who have very sensitive skin. But bromine is costlier than chlorine.
Oxidization of Swimming PoolOxidization is another method of maintaining the pool. It is used to clean waste from the pool such as skin cells, cosmetics and old chlorine. Ozonator, is used for oxidization process. This device produces ozone which cleans the pool effectively. Oxidization can reduce the use of chemicals in pool; which is also good for skin of pool users.
Check the pH Balance of WaterMaintenance of pH balance of water is also important for pool. To check pH balance, place white test strip in pool water for a second and compare changed color of strip with the chart that indicates proper balance.
pH level of water should be in the range of 7.2 -7.8. If pH level is too high, add pH decreaser to pool water and if pH level is too low add pH increaser to pool water to get balance level.
Swimming Pool Skimmer and FilterGenerally, swimming pools have skimmer which collects dead leaves, branches, insects and garbage form water. It pulls out waste from water and maintains purity of water. Swimming pool skimmer should be well maintained to work properly. Skimmer basket should be free of garbage and leaves. Filtration in swimming pool is second important factor to consider as it maintains cleaning of pool. Change filter on regular basis as it is recommended for proper maintenance of pool.
Also check electrical connections regularly to ensure that there is no naked wire. Regularly check diving board, handrail and ladders to ensure that there is no crack in the board and no rusted or loose bolt. All these things will ensure safety of your pool. Circulate water in swimming pool for at least 12 hour daily.
Closing Swimming PoolAt the end of season, closing procedure of swimming pool is also important. Proper water drainage, use of anti-freeze and pool covers all are helpful in procedure of closing swimming pool. First, drain the water from pool. Add anti freeze to Pipe lines to avoid cracking of pipes during winter season. Cover the pool with pool cover to keep garbage out of pool.
Opening Swimming PoolTo open swimming pool in warm season, simply remove pool cover and clean it. Remove anti-freeze from the Pipe lines and refill the pool with water. Check whether filtration system and circulation system are working properly.
