| Various types of pointing according to designs are following. |

| 1. Flush Pointing: |
|
|
Mortar is placed and pressed by trowel in the joints till the surface becomes flashy with rest of the wall. |
|
|
It is not an ornamental pointing. |
|
|
It is done to protect from the water. |
|
|
It is also used for internal surface where required. |
|
| 2. Deep Variety(Weathered and Struck) Pointing: |
|
|
Mortar is filled in the joint flush with the masonry by a pointing trowel and upper portion of the joint is pressed with a proper pointing tool. |
|
|
Vertical joints are struck in the same way with a similar tools having a triangular edge. |
|
|
Since the mortar becomes dense on compression. So this pointing makes good joints. |
|
|
In case of horizontal joints the water runs off the joints easily and is not allowed to enter the joints |
|
| 3.Raised Pointing: |
|
|
The joints are defined by ridge raised 3 mm from the face of the wall having width above 10 mm. |
|
|
It is a an ornamental type of pointing, used on stone walls generally. |
