The roof should be clean and flat before installation, a shield of water or ice is used in very cold climates for protection. Drip edge should be used to cover the asphalt shingles on all the edges, and these drip edges are availablein the form of metal or vinyl strip.
To start with, first of all a strip is nailed to the drip edge and then asphalt shingles are laid in the designed pattern.
Note:
- Never install asphalt shingles in too cold or hot weather.
- Never install asphalt shingles when temperature is less than 40 degree and colder than 32 degree.
- Extra care is needed while installation on roofs having slope of 4:12 or 5:12 pitch.
- Sleeper roof slopes require extra care during installation of asphalt shingles.
