How to ensure weight of steel members? | | | | While purchasing mild steel members from the market, the shopkeeper quotes prices of steel
members in weight. But we are ignorant of the fact (the weight of steel members) used in house construction and calculate the length of steel members in feet or meter. The following tables/details are useful for estimated weight and cost and help in purchasing of steel members to avoid pilferage in the weight.

| | By Prem Bhatia - On 10/27/2009 12:40:20 PM | | The quantity of binding wire depends on the diameter of MS steel bars used in RCC. For example if you use 12 mm MS steel bars instead of 10 mm steel bars then weight of steel is 1.5 times but consumption of binding wire remains same. Similarly MS steel bar of 12mm to 25mm is used in the beams but the quantity of binding wire remains approximately same. Binding wire required for binding steel bars is approximately 2kg to 4kg per metric ton. |
