What is the specification of glazed tile ?

 

Specifications of Glazed Tiles:

  • The tiles shall be of approved make and shall generally confirmed to ISI 777 .
  • They shall be flat and true to shape and free from blisters crazing , chips ,welts, crawling or other imperfection, detracting from their appearance.
  • The tiles shall be square or rectangular.
  • The thickness of the tiles shall be 5 mm to 7mm.
  • The top surface of the tiles shall be glazed and glazed shall be either glossy or matt finish.
  • The under side of the tiles shall not have glaze on more than 5 % of the area. The edges of the tiles shall be preferably free from glaze.
  • However any glaze if unavoidable shall be permissible only up to 50% of the surface area of the edge. These are in white tiles,coloured tiles or decorative tiles.

Vitrified ceramic floor tiles are better than ceramic porcelain tiles because they are low in water absorption. Vitrified are hard and more scratch resistance and less slippery. Vitrified are homogeneous in color and have no fading problem.
