Pixel house
The program stipulated a single storey house on a site prone to floods. The site lies right across a watershed which drains into a canal during floods. The biggest design challenge was to retain its natural flow while making a new architectural intervention in the urban space. The construction of so many residences blocking the watershed had led to a flood like situation at the site. The site is approached by a long linear wall, the bland look of which made us rework it in a spatial grid. This resulted in a pixelated grid which led to the idea of a pixel house growing from the smaller to the larger.
