What are the characteristics of POP?
The characteristics of Plaster of Paris (POP) are following:
- Plaster of Paris is easy to spread and level.
- It is fire resistant highly.
- It forms a thick surface to resist normal knocks after drying.
- It expands very slightly on the setting.
- It does not cause cracking of surfaces. It gives a decorative interior finish. It mixes up easily with water.
Gypsum building plasters are used extensively abroad for general building operations and the manufacture of pre-formed gypsum building products like tiles, blocks, plaster board etc, which have the specific advantage of lightness and high fire resistance.
