First floor construction

Hi All,My Ground Floor house is built without Pillars. I want to go for Pillar construction for first floor.I have space to put the pillars at the external walls ( 25X40 feet) and do not want to disturb the internal of the ground floor. So question is, Is it Okay to put the pillars at distance of 25 feet ? Will the beam between 2 pillars at distance of 25feet take the load?  OR its a risk ?ThanksC.
