Pergola beams steel vs concrete

I have a requirement of making pergolas for my proposed house. Considering the safety it can be made only in Steel or Concrete. I would like to the know what would be the approximate cost comparison between this. Considering the maintenance aspect my inclination is more towards concrete beams. Please provide your valuable inputs..

Dear Mr.S.L Gupta, I am currently constructing a house. Marble has b

Anurag,I guess your concern is to protect the marble floor as well against possible damages due to ladder, scaffold etc. Usually it is better too apply a layer of plaster of paris over the marble floor so that it protects against any damages. Cover the sharp objects such as ladder feet etc with a rubber sheet or thick cloth to protect against damage to the floor. The plaster of paris could be late.

Vastu for stairs

In my proposed house plan I have a requirement of constructing stairs in the Anticlockwise in the West Direction. The flight direction would rise from East to West. Would this be fine as per Vastu.

False ceiling

For my proposed home in Chennai instead of traditional plastering of the ceiling slab, I am planning to cover this with gypsum board false ceiling for all rooms except bathroom which would be in aluminium false ceiling. The walls also would be plastered only to a height of  6 inches above the proposed false ceiling level (about 8 feet). The cost saved on plastering and painting could help me in us.

Shuttering Material for roof slab

Commonly wooden planks/steel sheets are used for roof slab shuttering. However this always doesn't give a good finish and also needs plastering, which causes further problem of chipping away in a few years. An other alternative is to use Film faced plywood material, which would give an excellent finish and if done well the plastering could be even avoided and just a suitable painting could be appli.

HOW TO DO THIS WALL

Nowadays you can complete the basic plastering and you can use artificial tiles of your choice which would provide you the exact look of a brick wall, with much better finish which has a variety of choice in the market. Just take a look at the samples I've attached. The cheapest method is as suggested by the other respondent, but getting a good finish may be an issue, unless you use wire cut bri.

its nice. where do I get the micro wave and oven like the one in the picture, at

Hi Annette These kinds of oven and many more products can be checked out in the following link below. However it is my opinion that it would be better to buy a standalone oven as these are prone to maintenance and replacement over a period. Such concealed mounting would look great, but can have hassles of removal in case of maintenance, to find replacement of same type/size etc.. http://dir.indi.

Excellent design and it seems most of the designs are foreign. My budget is onl

The overall cost depends on the area you would like to build (GF+FF). The cost I am hearing is about 1500-1800/sq ft depending on the area finish etc. Further such sloped roofing could steeply increase on the overall budget. No doubt the arch design is good, however I am not sure how practical it would be for India as such houses are made for European kind which doesn't have boundary walls etc .
