Granite Countertops

Granite countertops have become the first choice of homemakers and kitchen users due to their elegant styles. After finishing, they offer great texture and structural composition. Granite counter tops are hard and tough and add to the value of any home. Being a natural stone, Granite is a popular choice for its traditional beauty and resilience. These counter tops have everlasting material and are the most exclusive of all kitchen countertops.

Granite countertops are available in a variety of colors, from various shades of white to browns, reds, greens, blues, and black. The most popular tones are brown and beige. Granite tones are generally neutral but you will find that certain colors go well with your kitchen design. So you have to select right color of granite for your kitchen. Go for the most popular colors. Granite counter tops with cool polished surface offer an excellent surface for rolling out pastry dough.

Advantages of Granite Countertops

  • Hard and tough.
  • Extremely scratch resistant and keep their luster longer than most other materials.
  • Come in deep rich colors with a polished finish that won’t wear off.
  • Repairable if scratched ever and do not let bacteria grow randomly.
  • Inflammable when any hot pots are put on them.

Disadvantages of Granite Countertops

  • Expensive and needs maintenance.
  • Absorb stains if not sealed properly and can crack if installed improperly.
  • Porous in nature, so they require resealing once a year.

Maintenance of Granite Countertops

If you want to keep granite countertops up to the best, they must be treated with care. Take some warm water and a soft cloth to clean up spills. Apply a clear sealer twice a year to preserve bright look of granite counter tops. Avoid ordinary household cleaners as they may spoil the top surface of the granite counter top.
