Vastu and Brahmasthan

Brahmasthan is a unique feature of ancient architecture based on Vastu Shastra. It is central, holiest and powerful zone of the house. All directions meet at the center of the house and disperse positive energy in all directions. This positive energy is very useful for living beings of the occupants of the house.  Brahmasthan is also important place for factories and industries. The central place is identified by painting ceiling with a different color.

If people want to enjoy riches, harmony and happiness, Brahmasthan should be left open and is free of obstructing objects. In ancient time, it was common to construct a courtyard at the centre of house which was open to sky and to the rooms around courtyard.

Identification of Brahmasthan

Divide the plot into 8 equal parts from East to West and North to South. Now the plot is divided into 64 equal parts. The four squares at the center of plot are the place of Brahmasthan.

Tips for Brahmasthan

  • Main hall, Pooja Room or Courtyard can be constructed at the centre of the house.
  • Toilets and Bathroom should not be built at the centre of the house.
  • Kitchen at the center may have adverse effect on health.
  • Generally, in duplex houses staircases are built at center of house. It may affect mental and financial growth of the residents.
  • The pillar having a load of structure makes the centre heavy that’s a big Vastu defect.
  • Sleeping at the centre place will mess up the life.
  • There should not be a beam at the center of house.
  • Beams, arches, store room etc. should not be constructed at Brahmsthana.

Dear Readers,
Here is what you need to know about Brahmasthan measurement.

If your plot is 60x40 site, or 30x40 site, or whatever dimensions, divide it into 9x9 = 81 squares, correct to the inches. The central nine squares comprise the Brahmasthan.

Now if you are constructing a 50x30=1500 Sqft on a 60x40 site, then divide the 1500 Sqft into 9 squares, perfect to the inches, and then the central 9 squares are called the Brahmasthan.

The Brahmasthan for 60x40 site is called BrahmaNaabhi and the Brahmasthan for 50x30 SBA is called Gruha Naabhi, pls note the Gruha Naabhi is what is most important for you.

Thanks,
Krishna

I construct my house in 2003 and after 7 years I added one bed room at north east corner and combined bath and toilet plus a separate toilet in north west, but just after the new construction, first of all my wife get the surgery of uterus and than I was infected by UTI infection due to which I remain in ICU for ten days and after passing more than one month I am still in problem. On medical treatment I have spent approx one lakh rupees. As I know that due to second construction, the brahmsthan is shifted from its original place (where open space was there) to another place where there is column and beam is there. I think this is big vastu defects which is creating health and maney problem. Am I right or not please guide me in this regard.
