i want to know how to get the size of columns and beams in a newly construction of house or apartment

S L Gupta (Civil Engg) Join date: Mar 2008	Post subject: Get more strength with same quantity of cement Dear Aqueel The size of columns are designed on the bases of load bear by the column i.e. the columns size are depend on the load coming on them both dead load and live load. According to loading condition Miled Steel bars to be used in column are calculated. The size of beams are also calculated on the bases of dead load and live load coming on them, the span of beam i.e. length of the beam is also taken at the time of deciding the size of beam.
