Advantage/disadvantage of Gypsum plastering and procedure to apply

Hi,We have seen in our apartment that the builders use gypsum paste for finishing of internal wall plastering and it's done in the following method:1. Plastering of the RCC wall with cement+sand+mortar dust mixture.2. Applying a Gypsum coat over it immediately after plastering has finished i.e. on the same day.My question is : 1. Is the above method proper or there are any guideline for Gypsum pla.
