World’s Most Ancient Cities

How the world came into existence is the mystery that we are eager to know at every bit of time. We are amused to know stories of ancient architecture and cultural values of our ancestors. This story reveals 10 most ancient cities of the world telling their legendry architecture and contemporary cultural events.

Damascus
Damascus is the capital of Syria. With the population over 4 billion people Damascus is the oldest city in the world. It is believed that this city was inhabited almost 12, 000 years ago when the mankind was passing through the Stone Age.   

  

Plovdiv
Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria. It is believed that this city was occupied since 4,000 BCE. It is one of the most unnoticed cities in the world but it is stunning for historic artifacts and monuments.   

 

Beirut
The city of Beirut was settled at least 5,000 year ago, but it is believed that it might be more than 20,000, years old, making it the oldest city on the Earth. This city remains in news for its on-again, off-again involvement in regional strife. It would be called the Paris of the Levant though it outdates Paris by thousands of years.      

 

Jerusalem
Jerusalem has been called a holy city by billions of people for centuries worldwide. It is hottest contested city for a long period of time in human history. The city is believed to be established more than 6,000 years ago whereas its participation with major religions only span roughly 3,000 years. 

 

Tel Aviv
Tel Aviv officially came into existence due to a cultural clash in the desert over 100 years ago but people had already been living there for at least 4,000 years. Jaffa, the original Arab settlement, still remains there as a sprawling desert community to the high rising modern metropolis.

 

Athens
Athens has been known for its tremendous civilization for more than 3,000 years and its’ ruins attract tourists round the year. This city is believed to be more than 35,000 years old.

 

Lisbon
Lisbon is nearly 3,200 years old and is another unnoticed European Eden. It is believed that the city was founded by the Phoenicians and had been under the frequent conquers by new armies for 2, 000 years. After all disturbances, the city remains extremely beautiful with its past experiences.

 

Xi’an
The city of Xi’an has gradually come into existence over the last 3,100 years and has become most liked city of modern China. It has been a home of the famous terra cotta armies of the ancient Qin Dynasty. The city is well-liked by both natives and tourists for its cultural heritage and flourishing industries.     

    

Rome
Rome, the eternal city and wonder of civilization came into existence with a mythical story and continues to astonish the world with the same legendry beauty. It is believed that the city was founded in 753 BCE and the story of Romulus and Remus is still held as canon there.  

 

Delhi
Delhi is a truly astonishing place and holds many of greater Asia’s most valuable historic sites.  The city is believed to have been inhabited for 3, 000 years now.
