|  Topic: We don't have stairs leading to terrace, sometimes it is very difficult to go up
We don't have stairs leading to terrace, sometimes it is very difficult to go up keeping a ladder when the house has two floors. I want to remove a window and make an entance to make stairs to go to terrace. But there is no support outside the window to make stairs.I will have to get support done from the ground itself. Please suggest me is it possible for me to get staircase done removing the window of the top floor which has no support outside? |

Join date: Sep 2014 | It absolutely possible by giving braces and brackets to support a cantilever staircase. Having said that it would be advisable to consult an Architect or structural engineer to inspect the site conditions and to check where the supports can be taken.
Please let me know if your house is a Load Bearing(No pillars, all load on walls) or a Framed Structure(with columns/pillars/beams).

Join date: Sep 2014 | Thanx for the informaton. My house is of framed stucture. Either way is it even possible to break open the ceiling (10sq.ft) to make stairs from a room to make way for the terrace.
