Here is the brief description of some beautiful gardens in chandigarh --)
Botanical Garden:
Between Rock Garden and Sukhna Lake a picturesque Botanical garden is spread over 88 acre. Small pools and the rare species kept under the green house draw garden lovers as well as botanists.
Bougainvillea Garden:
Located in Sector 10. The garden is devoted to hundreds of bougainvillea varieties. The creepers cover a wide assortment of arches, bowers, pavilions and arcades. The annual Bougainvillea Show is held here.
Cactus Garden:
The biggest Cactus Garden in Asia is located just 8 km away from Chandigarh in the city Panchkula. The unique garden has hundreds of different varieties of cactus. Some varieties are very unique & rare.
Rajendra Park:
This vast open space has been left in its natural state, resembling the land of a village common. Sporting events such as horse shows are held here from time to time.
Rose Garden:
Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is the Asia's largest Garden. Every year, either at the end of February or beginning of March, a big festival known as Rose Festival, is celebrated at this garden. It’s one of the great celebrations in the city. There are lots of competitions, cultural celebrations and many other events.
Rock Garden:
Rock garden was started in 1958 by a roads inspector for Chandigarh’s Engineering Department, Mr Nek Chand. It consist of stills made up of scraps and other types of waste materials such as bottles, woods, glasses, plastic, tiles, electric wastes etc.
The most important and unique feature of Rock Garden is that there are thousands of animals and still figures, which stand in a row as a static crowd. The series of rock structures, walk ways and waterfalls made up of urban and industrial waste make rock an exceptional place in Chandigarh.
Samriti Upvan:
Located in Sector 1. This garden is very beautiful. And as the name suggests “Upvan” means full of trees.
Shanti Kunj:
This Garden is located in Sector 16. The name means "Abode of Peace" trees, pools and streams crossed by curved bridges and a large number of meditation nooks define this garden. There is also an open-air stage.
Terrace Garden:
This garden is located in Sector 33. One can see hundereds of different varieties of flowers in the garden. In evenings, people enjoy the cool breeze that flows in the garden. | |
