According to human psychology red is associated with energy and emotions including passion and love. It is also associated with lust and beauty as well and red rose is biggest symbol of love.
A couple of days ago I saw a picture on this website that had a very dominant red colored wall. I would like to use this forum to ask whether you guys would go with such a dominant red focus in a room.
Let me know your thoughts, I would list out mine.
Pros.
1) Red catches attention and has the strongest reaction of all colors. So if you want to create a bold bold impression you can not go wrong with red.
2) Red is love, red is beauty and according to the Indian soceity red is also associated with the symbol of marriage and the symbol of goddess Laxmi (wealth).
3) According to chinese culture red is associated with success, fortune, happiness, loyality and courage.
Anna Jacob just uploaded a chinese drawing room with a little red theme so I thought I would add to my post.
Cons.
1) Red can be overwhelming. Red is such a strong color that it could supress every other idea that you may put in your room.
2) Red is also associated with blood, hatred and with devilish feelings.
So what do you say, would you use Red in your interior decoration scheme :) Share your thoughts

| By tripta.mba : On Monday, April 14,2008 Hi,Yes it will be correct to say thar red color is a sign of love,lust, beauty but same time it is also associated with anger,blood and hatred. so red has both positive and negative impact...... But here we are not talking about red color in general. We are talking about red for interior purpose. As light color are more soothing for walls but they are not meant for marriage purposes likewise red color although good symbol for marriage but it doesnt gives soothing environment at home. Now a days when people come to home after a hectic schedule they want home environment best for the purpose to relax which red color doesnt give. So it can be used wid some soothing color combinations like white, grey but pure red doesnt work. |

But a whole room with only red..........i think, it will b a strain 4 our eyes 'n stress 4 our minds 2 b in such a room 4 a long time.If the room has islands of white or greyish silver .......ie. big furniture pieces , borders, patches etc......then , it wud look nice. If it is an open room with only 3 walls 'n if it opens 2 the nature on 1 side (red in the midst of greenery ) ,then, i think it might go gud. Anyway, 'tiz a gud idea 2 discuss with our clients --"red 'n energy ". Thank u. |
