|  Topic: I have to live on the top floor ( approx 3300sq ft) of a three storied building
I have to live on the top floor ( approx 3300sq ft) of a three storied building at Asansol( temp reach 48deg during summer). I am worried about the heat and hence I have planned to put a false ceiling in the 3 bedrooms. Does it really help and what additional can I do to keep my floor cooler. Does an exhaust fan between the RCC ceiling and false ceiling really help? How should I cover my entire terrace( over my floor) to reduce heat? Is it to be covered with tiles ( what type of tiles) or white paint( then what brand) or something else!!! pls help before I get grilled... regards |

False ceiling reduce the heat coming from roof. Exaust fan also helps to reduce the heat of the room. There are many methods for providing thermal insulation for roof to reduce the heat. The website gharexpert.com construction section have lot of material about construction and maintanance of home. You should take help from the article of thermal insulation, whose link given below.

You can adopt under-deck insulation of the roof to minimize heat gain in the interior space.
Providing shade to the roof top is the best way to reduce heat. I would advice go for creeper plantation on elevated structure above your roof. It will reduce heat, give beauty to your space. You have to take care of any problem due to water leakage.
