|  Topic: I want to build bedroom loft of 2 feet extend from wall. The side walls are 11'
I want to build bedroom loft of 2 feet extend from wall. The side walls are 11'2" apart. Left wall is 9" external common wall and right wall is 4.5" partition wall. so slab would be 11'2" x 2'What should be thickness of rcc slab?How much should 4.5 wall be chiselled and how much 9" left wall and how much the 9" wall where this slab would stuck like a cantilever. What would be optimum considering damage to wall vs adequate support for the rcc slab.What should be rebar design with 8mm. Is it feasible to have beam at far end of 2 feet free side or not required? |

Join date: Mar 2008 | Dear Sir, You should make recess of 4.5'' in 9'' thick wall and 4.5'' in 4.5'' wall and 4.5'' in the 11'-2'' wall. The thickness of slab should be 3'' with 12 or 10 mm diameter main bar of length 11'9'' @ 6'' c/c and shorter side bar 10 or 8 mm @ 6'' c/c. This is not cantilever. It may be cantilever if laid during construction.
