Hello Kuldeep,
As per Vastu shastra Load in Sink Direction that is West/South West/South is always good and less load to North/North East/East is advaisable. So make it a point that your Source zone is minimally loaded and your sink zone is heavily loaded. Over head water tank is a heavy load so it can be tranasfered in Sink zone.
Apart from this your statement "overhead tank location is north east corner and middle of house" is bit confusing
