|  Topic: Repair of underground Water storage sump
Dear friends,
The underground sump (11000 litres) at my house receives drinking water supplied by city's metro water supply.
Unfortunately
it is noted recently that the water inside sump is seen blackish and
contaminated by getting mixed with outside drain water,probably water
getting entry through the tree roots.
The roots from nearby tress
have penetrated through side walls of water storage sump.The use of sump
is therefore discontinued and the incoming valve is kept closed.
The top concreted floor is paved with tiles.The
manhole to enter the sump is small to assess the nature and exact
extent of damage. Moreover there is no visibility even if inspection
lamp is used.
It is practically difficult to inspect the defect and
the only option could be to cut open the top concreted portion with
flooring
(6" thickness) which is quite expensive and time consuming.
Shall be very thankful to receive advice as how the sump can be repaired and restored at least expense?
