Join date: Jul 2015 | Hi Nancy: The question is whether one can have good adhesion between the existing mosaic flooring and vitrified tiles. It is cheaper to modify the base with grinding existing mosaic flooring for better adhesion and then have a cement layer to which the vitrified tiles can bond to. If done properly, there is no deterioration in performance of the vitrified tiles. The door shutters will have to be cut say 0.5 inch. That generally is not a problem unless and until you are using Flush Doors.
