At building surveying
we discover cracks along the colum of one of the corner of two storey building. the crack move from ground to top, stopped at first floor balcony; it suggest that the balcony may collaspes if somthing is not done.
what is your opinion on this.
Dear akinwumiIt depends really, every situation is different but the most likely thing is the sheer weight of the building itself causes the ground beneath it to give way and slowly but surely the building sinks into the ground. Some areas of the building sink faster than others, and when this happens it generates cracks in the mortar joints and sometimes in the brick/block themselves.
Lasting solution is its maintenance so the length and depth of all cracks should be measured. The aesthetic requirements of an individual application should be assessed and where necessary colorant may be added to the Rendacrete LW.
