Join date: Apr 2013 | Dear Madhusudhanan: C-sections and I-sections, made of mild steel are usually used as a load bearing arrangement especially during renovation and nowadays, increasing in new construction as well. Here are the images of both of these types: C-section: http://tinyurl.com/pnqzh87 I-section: http://tinyurl.com/l99cmjx Do take help of a structural engineer before using them in construction. thanks, Mr.Abhishek. In a sense, are these fabricated structures made of mild steel ? The related question was, does it add considerably to cost of renovation. Is it directly related to the price of steel ? Will take the help of a structural engineer as per your advise certainly !

Join date: Apr 2013 | Dear Madhusudhanan: Yes, these are made of mild steel. During renovation, they are used where they create an easy solution to provide support/bear load of the existing structure. They are not super-expensive and have a direct relation to the price of steel. I hope it helps. | |
