In construction work, foundation is the part of structure below plinth level up to the soil. It is in direct contact of soil and transmits load of super structure below plinth level up to the soil. Some part of the foundation is below ground level and some part of foundation is above ground level i.e. up to the plinth or floor level. The foundation depth is measured of foundation,  the height is consider is 1.5 meter below plinth level.
