 Topic: RCC Roof SPAN
Hi-

I am constructing my 2nd floor and need some advise.

The total area for the RCC roof is approx. 1000 sq. feet.


It's a big almost square hall with 30' x 32' with a 9 inch wall almost in the middle but it is only extending upto 14 feet of the whole hall length of 32 feet.

What's the best method for casting a RCC roof and how many cantilever beams I will need?

   It is the design matter and can be given after the study of drawing of the house for which it is to be constructed.

I've started the shuttering to cast the RCC slabs now using steel plates and channels.

What's the best cantilever angle/slope for a slab 32 feet x 13 feet room with a height of 9 feet?

  • While doing shuttering of a cantilever part, outer edge of shuttering is 1” to 2'' higher than inner edge with the wall.
  • The bracing of vertical supports for cantilever portion should be tied to vertical supports of internal slab.        
  • The concrete should be laid on cantilever portion very gently.
  • The shuttering should be removed after 28 days.
