|  Topic: Size of TMT bar for RCC main slab and beam
Hi,My contractor recommended me to use 8mm TATA TMT bar for main RCC slab and 12mm for beam. Its 1st floor roof contaction(520 sqft). Give me some suggestion. |

The size and spacing of MS Steel bar is calculated on the basis of design. In general design use at least 10 mm dia tor steel bars for main in RCC slab and in beam above 10 feet span of beam use 16 mm dia tor steel bars.

Maximum span between two piller(column) is less(or equal) 10ft. So 12mm TATA TISCON bar is enough or I should use 16mm for beam. | | |
