Dear Mr. S. L. Gupta Sir,
Please guide me. Above RCC slab we made slope by cement mortar. Thickness of mortar is 4 inch at back and 1 inch at front, it means 3 inch slope in 40 feet length. Now after one year lots of cracks appear on mortar, a few cracks are 1 and 2 mm wide. water is coming in hall below. Please suggest what to do.
Dear Panchal
I think it is wrong decision to make slope with cement mortar. Now you should remove the cement mortar from the slab and do tile terracing on the roof slab. Necessary slope should be made with earth. In this process you should lay polithene sheet on the roof than lay mud mortar 1'' and lay earth on it for slope and lay brick tiles and grout them with cement sand mortar 1;3. For more detail visit the web site gharexpert.com construction section in which you will find dampproof subsection where you will found lot of articles about tile terracing etc.
