Topic: Is extending roof slab is solution to protect house walls frm Dampness?

Hi,

We are making new house in Hyderabad. Plot size is 36' X 60'.
I would like to know is it a good idea to keep roof slab projected beyond the ground floor walls so that rain water will not come to the walls directly.

Two sides of the house are protected by 3' extended slab beyond wall position as covered open area, but we have only 2'6'' open space at south and west side.
Can you please give some advice on how to protect house south and west exterior walls at Ground Floor and First Floor from dampness? If we extend the roof slab, then how much minimum width is advisable?

Post subject: Roof slab to protect the wall from rain water.

Hello Geetika,

2’6” roof slab projected at south and west side of your house is sufficient to protect the wall from the rain water.
