|  Topic: Requirement for beams for RCC roof - Plan attached..
I've given the labor contract of my house construction to a contractor who is not engineer but have >30 year experience in house construction and work quality is also good. I'm here to clear technical doubt regrading the beam requirement for the rcc flat roof. My contractor's advise is that there is no need of beams with thickness more than roof, but only provide additional steel bars through the center of wide room ie. bedroom, living room etc. ie, more steel bars, may be in box form, through some parts of rcc roof and less bars in mesh form through remaining parts. Is it right approach? or Should I provide beams with thickness ie. 6" / 8" anywhere? Plan is attached here with for reference.
