|  Topic: Whats the max. room size for rcc flat roof without beams?
What is maximum room size that support rcc roof without beam in between and load bearing walls. I've also seen that in some places of rcc roof steel bars are provided in box form instead of mesh...will it act as small beam without projections? If yes, up to what room size we can use it instead of actual beam? |

Join date: May 2014 | Any extension more than 100 Sq.ft. needs and extra beam in the lantel. So the room size more than 10x10 needs an extra beam in the centre.

Join date: Nov 2015 | Sir, I see a lot of houses with bedroom/living room sizes 12ftx13ft,13ftx14ft etc. without any visible beams. In my present house plan the bedroom size is 12ftx13ft but engineer is suggesting more steel rods through the centre within same 4" thickness ie. Not visible beam. Is it right? | | |

You should use 12''x 5'' beam in middle with 6 to 8 bars of 16mm with rings of 8mm dia @ 6'' c/c.

You can lay consolidate beam on 14' side, the size of beam is 18''x7''. 7'' thickness of beam portion 5'' will be in RCC roof and remaining 2'' up side will be covered in concrete below flooring. use 8 nos MS Steel bars of 20 mm dia 4nos on top and 4 nos on bottom with 8mm dia ring 4'' center to center.
