How much weight can the pillars take?

 Topic: How much weight can the pillars take?

Hi,

I already have a 3 year old house with basement + 3 floors. Structure was designed with a structural engineer consultation. There are 12 pillars in the 30X40 area. Each pillar is 18 X 9 inches. each pillar has mix of 16mm & 12mm rods.

I am covering the terrace with roof tiles supported by steel structure (kind of addtional floor without walls). I have steel pipes with base plate planted to the pillars and roof tiles placed on this structure. this additional structure will add around 15 tonnes - 4 tonne steel (column, rafters, perlines) & 10 tonnes of double layer tiles.

My question is, will the current structure with the above specified pillars take this additional 15 tonnes without any problem?

         According to details given by you, the structure i.e. pillars can take the load of new structure which you want to built now.
