Topic: Calculation of column load and footings

Dear friend,
while calculating load on column (Dead + live load) here
Dead load= Self load of column+self load of beam+ load of brick wall +load of slab+ load of water tank +terrace finish load+water proofing load. with M20 and Fe415.
Live load = 4.0KN/m2 X area
(a) I am doubt whether the plinth beam self load need to be included to calculate the total load at column and footings.
(b)how we calculate the size of tie beam?
(c)how we can make footings in between two construction building ?
(d) which is better square or rectangular column and why?
(e)For a rocky surface how we assume Soil bearing capacity?

If possible plz reply                                            Manish Kumar

Dear Kumar
You know much more about design and loading calculation, The design is to study the latest design theory. As per query I am in opinion that
 a)  The weight of plinth beam should be taken in the design of column's footing. It is a small quantity and some time neglect it but it  is covered  under the factor of safety, which we keep 3.
b) Tie beam is a nominal structural member and goes through door opening and window opening and design like wise of door and window opening/ span.
c) Query is not clear which two building, distance between them etc.
d) It depends upon design calculation and architectural feature.
